Hi there! You've probably just stumbled along this blog, thinking, "'Year Of The Monster'? What the Hellmann's Mayonnaise is THAT?"Excluding the fact that for some reason you use the same food-related catch phrases as me, that's how most people would probably react to this strange blog. Well, that's why I'm making this post, to explain what the Hellmann's Mayonnaise this blog is.
First off, let's start with who I am. My name is Kat (or ktbunke). I'm a female from the United States (let's leave it at that) who enjoys various things, such as:
- Drawing, both realistic and cartoon-y
- Eating
- Watching/Making YouTube videos
- The TV show "Psych"
- Pineapples
- Rainbows
- Cute animals
- Miniatures
- Cooking (I know, I'm such a typical woman.)
- Being Head Detective for the Grammar and Spelling Police
- Singing (I'm TERRIFIED of singing in front of other people, though. I get super shaky and I don't sound good :/ )
- Using emoticons, even in real life ;D
- Making stuff (knitting, crocheting, sewing, gluing pieces of pasta to paper)
- Not being able to form sentences well (Sorry about that... )
- Watching movies
- Trying to speak Spanish with my Peruvian friend (and failing miserably)
- Spending my life on the internet
Now, on to what this blog is. Recently, as a Christmas present, I acquired a book called "365: A Creativity Journal". The basic premise of this book is to make something every day for a year using the same medium or subject. I was inspired by this, and since I have a love for crocheting (as mentioned before in the huge list above) I decided to start a year-long project in which I crochet a little monster-thing every day for 365 days.

They would all be different, ranging from a Rainbow Monster to a David Tennant Monster, all with the same basic shape and sharp, pointy teeth. This idea of a tiny monster actually comes from artwork I've made. In almost all of my drawings and doodles, there's a little monster in the corner with its mouth open, looking like it's about to eat everything else on the page. That's pretty much why I chose to use monsters as my subject (also, it's SUPER easy to make these Monsters, which works well with my usually busy school schedule.)
So there you have it! I have just (or well, more like 3 days ago) embarked on a quest to make a crocheted Monster every day for a year, hence the name "Year Of The Monster". Every day I will post a picture and a brief explanation of the Monster I have created that day. Please feel free to subscribe or whatever to this blog to see my progress! :)
